Worst Part of Being a Nanny

As a nanny, every-time I interviewed with a new family there is that one question I’m sure I will be asked. It’s the question that I dread every time. The question that reminds me of so much joy but also beings me so much heartbreaking pain.

That question is:
What is the most difficult thing about being a nanny?

I always answer this question the exact same.
I fall in love with the child I’m caring for. Then for whatever reason sooner or later sadly that child won’t be in my life. The family moves or starts daycare.

The plan is always the same; we will stay in touch. We say we will meet up for lunch, email, text, call etc. The first couple weeks sure those things happen easily. Then time and life gets in the way. As a nanny I have a new child to care for, that new child has now took hold of my heart and is pulling at it.
Being a nanny is so rewarding in so many ways. But When the job ends its by far the worst part of my job.

The first families I had to stay goodbye to! I still think of them all the time.
